Be Proactive
People who have no regard for the Bible or the message of Jesus can often name the Golden Rule: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.“ This foundational principle can be found in many religions and cultures. Roughly three hundred years before Jesus taught this, the Greek philosopher Isocrates said, “Do not do to others that which angers you when they do it to you.” However, rather than framing it in the negative as Isocrates did, Jesus told His followers to be proactive. He also said, “Give and it shall be given unto you.“ Do for others first. Set the example. Show the love, courtesy, courage, and gratitude – whatever it is you would like to receive, be the first to extend it. Sow what you want to reap. As the prophet Isaiah says, “Learn to do good…“ (Isaiah 1:17). You can do this by the power of the Holy Spirit. Start today!
